The wheels on the bus...

Roslin went on a bus trip into town today and she missed the whole thing as was sound asleep. Getting the bus in and out of town is really easy with her, these new fangled buses that have spaces for prams and tilt so you are not having to lift the pram on and off are great, it makes it so easy getting about. This is handy since I can't drive only problem is getting other places like Stirling is no longer all that simple as it only has the old buses on that run and I still don't know how how to collapse the pram. At least her first Bus trip was a success and while I was shopping she was sound asleep so I managed to take my time around the town before going to lunch with her.

Roslin officially was a lady that lunched today with Mum and myself. We had nipped along to the court (where my Mum works) to say thank you for all the gifts that they had sent, and my Mum was going on holiday the next day so was desperate for a final cuddle before heading off for a week. Roslin was quite settled when we went for lunch mostly looking around and she let us have our lunch in peace only at the end did she decide she was hungry but we were getting the bus home after lunch so we headed off and the bus worked its magic and she was sound asleep within mins of being on the bus again.

But for Roslin and myself this was our first outing on our own and it went really well, will be able to take her out and about again as long as she is still as well behaved.

Roslin's First Outing

Today we headed up to Kinross so Roslin could meet up with her Great-Grandparents the rest of the Kinross clan. And apart from sleeping for the first couple of hours after arriving there she woke up just in time to meet the family. Ian, Lenny, Tino, Shona and Chris came over to all see Roslin and give her a bit of a cuddle. Was a really nice day and Ron and Terry were taken totally by surprise that we had went up to visit.

Roslin really was on her best behaviour and was really settled on the car trip and hardly even gave a grizzle while she was away from home. My parents gave us a run up and took a trip to the market before coming back for a spot of lunch and spend some time with the family. It was a really nice day and nice to see everyone and introduce Roslin to them all.

Weight Watch

Today Roslin and myself headed out to the baby clinic to get another weight done. We got the great new that she is now a healthy 6lb 14.5oz the topping up has done the job but hopefully we will be able to just breast feed in time. Going to start going to the breast feeding group tomorrow so that will be another venture out for us and they will hopefully be a good support for getting the feeding sorted. At least for now though we are all very happy at Roslin's gain and she is looking so much better and healthier.

Apart from eating lots Roslin is doing really well, she is sleeping most of the night so we are getting at least a 4 hour spell of uninterrupted sleep, which is great! She is a very happy little girl and loves to be in her bouncer or her pram. It has taken a little while to get her used to her moses basket, she likes her cuddles too much, but she is getting better and sleeping more in it now.

Roslin has been very lucky and has been spoiled by everyone, she has a wardrobe full of pretty little outfits now and I'm getting used to dressing her in pink. It has been nice to get so many congratulation cards and everyone has been so nice. She is one lucky little girl.

Worth the weight

Roslin was weighed again at the hospital today, and she is now 6 lb 2 oz, so everything is on track for us to be passed from the midwifery team to the community health visitor.

Lorna and Roslin back in Hospital

Lorna and Roslin went back into hospital yesterday as the midwife was finally convinced that Roslin wasn't getting enough milk from the breast alone. We had mentioned this before, but we had been told that everything would sort itself out; Lorna was given pointers on her technique and told to take some more hot baths. We has also been told that we couldn't mix breast and bottle, so we were wary of topping up. We had been already giving Roslin more water than had been advised.

Roslin had lost a lot of weight (down from 6 lb 10 Oz to 5 lb 10 1/2 Oz). A little weight loss after birth is expected (10% over 4 days), but this was 16%, and after a week. After we got her to the hospital she got really lethargic. She had some checks, which confirmed that she was dehydrated, but the cause seemed to be just the lack of milk.

She's gained 4 Oz already and she's looking a lot better - brighter and more alert. Her and Lorna will be staying in tonight, and possible tomorrow, just in case.

Roslin is one week old today.

Casper Meeting Roslin

Casper Meeting Roslin
Originally uploaded by GuruAnt
Just after we brought little Roslin home, Casper came over to see the new addition to the family. He's been a little distressed ever since, but he's getting back to normal now; and - on one occasion - using the confused and sleep deprived state of my wife and I to get two breakfasts.

We are home

I am finally home and the gorgeous Roslin came with me. The labour was not as bad as I expected but still exhausting in it's own way. Really glad to be home and Roslin is fantastic, she has taken well to feeding and I am almost doing nothing she is doing all the hard work. Dad is doing not bad too, he has been helping with changing and doing the running around while I recover a little.

All the grandparents have seen Roslin also Uncle Dan and all had a bit of a cuddle, everyone seems really taken with her, and I'm not surprised she is just perfect. Casper on the other hand has had a bit of a sniff at baby and then done a runner, He's not so sure about her yet, but I'm sure in time they will be fine with each other.

I voted for Roslin

Baby is now called Roslin Neise. We have a week to decide if we want a middle name. I've got lots of photos on the camera, but I need to sort them out, and I'm too tired tonight.

I imagine I'm going to be saying that a lot in future.

Little Girl

Lorna gave birth to a beautiful, but as yet unnamed, little girl (6lb 10Oz) at 9:49am this morning - 15 days overdue.

Both mother and baby are doing well.

41 weeks 5 days

With induction a day away I thought I better write something. Going to be going into hospital tomorrow morning for 8.30am which is fine I don't think I will be sleeping much anyway. I'm not quite sure how I feel about all this could probably put a list down here but the good thing is the last item on my list of emotions and that's excitement. Being almost two weeks over and feeling like I have been prepared for baby coming for ages I'm so looking forward to having our little one in my arms, the labour on the other hand I really don't want to think much about but the excitement of having baby here with us and not just kicking my ribs is enough for me to put the worries about the labour to the back of my mind.

My bag is packed, and now it's just a waiting game until tomorrow.

Wish me luck!
